2012 may get off to a slow start in matters of the heart, so it's wise to pace yourself when the year begins. The reason is that passionate Mars, your usually impulsive ruling planet, is barely moving on Jan. 1 and, in fact, shifts into reverse gear on Jan. 23, remaining retrograde until April 13. These transits occur in your 6th House of Adjustments, which is more about getting into shape and tending to your work tasks than it is about falling in love, unless you're into reigniting an office romance.

A potentially rich period for partnership begins on July 3 when Mars fires into your 7th House of Relationships. This is excellent for meeting new people or reviving interest in a current union. After some rough patches on July 17 and 18, emotional intensity should increase as of Aug. 23 when Mars enters sexy Scorpio and your 8th House of Intimacy. You'll need to decide whether you're ready to take things to the next level, or realize that a situation is so complicated that you might want to back out of it.
